About RigFig

My first memories of feeling in my element are camping at a friend’s ranch in Cub Scouts. That’s where I fell in love with the Texas outdoor experience and the gear that comes with it. It started with boots, backpacks, and pocket knives. I was fascinated by guns, but it didn’t make sense to collect any of those yet. I’d enjoy various shooting merit badges, some occasional hunting, and a youth skeet league every Tuesday in fourth grade. I was lit up by the culture and the people it attracted.

Twenty years later came a serendipitous aha moment: Around the time I started running regularly, I was invited on a buddy’s range trip in Burnet, TX which awakened the dormant gun bug in me. When I told my dad about it on my way back, he sent me a link to this sport called Run n Gun he’d heard about from a colleague. Boom, I was all in. It seemed like the ideal combination of fitness, shooting, and gear collection. This was my reason to finally become a gun owner and it would give me a goal for my training.

That was about a year and a half ago. My first ever match was the Old 18 Series event at YO Ranch, November 2025. Big surprise, I fell in love with the community, the energy, and the competition. I’ve also been to a handful of Cen-Tex Multi-gun matches to stay sharp between RnGs. My next matches will be Pecos in September (the OG) and Mystery Ops Jade Helm on Halloween.

While building my Run n Gun rig from zero, I caught myself obsessively questioning and re-verifying the same purchase decisions over and over. Sure, watching all the video reviews on a single component can be fun, but when I have a lot of decisions to juggle, I can get exhausted and disorganized fast.

RigFig is where I solidify a decision and visualize it, so it’s already decided instead of something I keep going back to and second-guessing. Seeing it laid out is what lets me make sense of it all and be happy with my decisions. If I have the urge to optimize my kit, I can look at my Armory and take comfort in knowing I’m good to go. Even if I don’t own everything I want yet, my wishlist organizes my next purchases and soothes my decision fatigue.

RigFig is a joint effort between my dad and me; the enthusiasm for gear is in our blood. While I’m leading the charge on the in-field testing and competing, he’s carrying a lot of the technical and managerial weight — the part that turns our vision into something you can actually use.
